AWIB Successful Asian Women Entrepreneurs of 2003

Asian Women In Business honored successful Asian women entrepreneurs and corporate leaders at the 2003 AWIB Leadership Awards Dinner on Monday, October 20, 2003. The event also marked AWIB's Eighth Anniversary of providing programs and services to the small business community. The event, which has grown increasingly popular each year, was atteneded by over 450 people and held at the Hilton New York Hotel in Midtown Manhattan.
The Awards Dinner recognized the outstanding contributions to the small business and corporate world by Asian women. The 2003 AWIB Entrepreneurial Leadership Award and the 2003 AWIB Corporate Leadersip Award was awarded to women who have demonstrated business and corporate success, overcome racial, ethnic or gender barriers and are involved in their communities.
The 2003 AWIB Entrepreneurial Leadership Award went to:
Shirley Lam, President, Connetquot West, Inc.
Jay Lee, CEO/President, By Design LLC
Ahnal Purohit, CEO/President, Donahoe Purohit Miller, Inc.
Taryn Rose, CEO Taryn Rose International
The 2003 AWIB Corporate Leadership Award was given to:
Jeannie Park, Executive Editor, People Magazine, Time Inc.
Sheryl WuDunn, Anchor, Author, Pulitzer Prize Winning Journalist, The New York TImes
Vivian Lee, Reporter, NBC, was Mistress of Ceremony for the evening.
The evening began with a reception 6:00 PM followed by the Dinner and Awards Ceremony at 7:00 PM. An extensive silent auction was held throughout the evening. Acrobat Xiao Huan Cai and Makalina's Hawaiian Express Dancers provided captivating entertainment.
Proceeds from this Dinner will go towards supporting AWIB's 2004 programs and services.
