 AWIB Annual Procurement Opportunities Conference

Asian Women in Business understands that for minority and women-owned businesses to grow, they need additional opportunities with corporations and government agencies and as a part of our mission, we strive to build the connections between mwbe's and corporate and government buyers.

On an annual basis, AWIB sponsors a procurement opportunities conference which not only provides information on the processes but also matches pre-qualified minority and women-owned businesses with corporate buyers.

The AWIB 2015 Procurement Opportunities Conference

The conference fostered partnerships for minority and women-owned businesses. Now in its 12th year, the Procurement Conference has become one of the premier events for small businesses in the tri-state area. It is designed to help minority and women owned
firms grow in an increasingly competitive business environment.
MWBE's met with government agencies and regional authorities at our extensive exhibition area.  Pre-qualified vendors had one-on-one appointments with Corporations during our corporate matchmaking sessions. The conference also included industry expert-led panel discussions, which offered valuable insight into the procurement process and how to maximize networking opportunities such as this conference. Those in attendance made the connections to propel their businesses forward.

Keynote Speakers:
Scott M. Stringer, New York City Comptroller
Maya Wiley, Esq., Counsel to the Mayor and M/WBE Director

Workshops included:

  • Doing Business with Corporate America
Experts share best practices to close the deal

  • Marketing to the Government
Government & regional representatives discuss secrets to landing those coveted contracts

  • Take the 'Work’ Out of Networking

When you are in business, you are in show business – you are on the stage of your industry.  Take advantage of every opportunity and you can start by maximizing the time you spend at this conference – start making all your meetings and engagements more productive.

  • Speed Networking
Put what you have learned into practise
This was facilitated by Robyn Hatcher, Founder and CEO of SpeakEtc., a communication and presentation-skills training company

AWIB Small Business Members were eligible for an exhibition table to showcase their products and/or services. As an exhibitor, they were able to readily network with government and corporate buyers as well as the many small business owners in attendance. More information on becoming a Small Business Member can be found at: www.awib.org/membership.

Online Registration and a pre-qualification Form required for matchmaking. MWBE certification was not required but recommended. The deadline to submit the pre-qualification form  was June 10, 2015 (extended to June 18) and this fillable form was emailed to us at info@awib.org. Matches were made according to product/service requested by the corporations, and therefore not guaranteed.  As always, AWIB members received special consideration - if you support us, we support you.
