Debbie Hidajat is the Chief Operating Officer of PTS America, a ceramics dinnerware and furniture business supplying mass retailers in the US. She has had extensive personal and multinational business experience in Asia, Europe and North America.
An entrepreneur at heart, Debbie is a real estate investor, investing in multi-family and commercial real estate in and around New York City; an angel investor and part of the screening committee at 37 Angels, a community of women investors supporting early-stage startups. She is an avid marathon runner.
Debbie earned her Bachelor’s degree in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University; then graduated with a dual degree in MBA and MS in Industrial Engineering from Columbia University, at the age of 23.
In 2009, Marilyn Kane founded Iridium Capital, a real estate fund management firm. The real estate Fund, Iridium Capital Income and Growth Fund, holds real property in the retail and industrial sectors with long-term net leases in place with credit tenants such as Walgreens, Dollar General, and Fed Ex.
Marilyn began her career in commercial real estate in 1986, after an editing career at Random House and a short stint as a NYC English teacher. In 1992, she co-founded the commercial real estate brokerage firm, Butler Kane, and in 2007 she became a Managing Director to the national real estate firm Sperry Van Ness. In recognition of her achievements, Marilyn was named as one of "New York's 100 Most Influential Women in Business" by Crain's New York Business, a “Woman of Influence” by Real Estate New York, and one of the top "100 Women Real Estate Leaders of the 21st Century" by Real Estate Weekly.
After her involvement in a landmark child support case, Marilyn formed the NYC Chapter of the Coalition for Family Justice, a child support advocacy group. She currently serves on the Board of the Foundation for Social Change; is a long-time member of AWIB, Association of Real Estate Women (AREW), and NY Commercial Real Estate Women (NYCREW). She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from New York University. She is the mother of three adult children and grandmother to two boys.
Icy Liu is responsible for acquisitions at Faros Properties, a private commercial real estate investment firm focused on opportunities in the Northeast United States. Faros and its predecessor companies trace their roots to family-owned operations that have been involved in real estate for over six decades. She previously worked in Wells Fargo’s Real Estate Capital Markets Group, where she originated and underwrote over $1 B CMBS/balance sheet loans. She also worked at CapitalSource, Rossrock Private Equity Fund, Extell Development, and UBS Investment Bank.
She received her MS in Real Estate Finance and Investment from NYU. At NYU, she was the president of the Student Association and the recipient of the New York Women Executives in Real Estate Scholarship and the Schack Institute of Real Estate Alumni Association Future Alumni Scholarship. She also received the Lambda Alpha Distinguished Service Award and the NYU President’s Individual Service Award. She graduated with a BS in Operations Research/Economics from Columbia University.
Paula Schafer started her career at Saks Fifth Avenue as the Associate Director of Marketing for Men’s Wear. She implemented high-profile, image-based consumer marketing programs within the luxury/lifestyle sector. From high-end fashion, she transitioned to real estate when a friend involved in the business challenged her to get a license. She has since closed more than $20 million worth of real estate deals, mostly representing foreign investors, since she started 4 years ago.
She wasn’t looking at investing until a year ago, a colleague introduced her to a developer looking for investors. Seeing the opportunity, she started to educate herself to perform her own due diligence. She has now invested in mortgage notes, fix & flip, and joint ventures in developments. She is currently looking to invest in multi-family apartments in emerging markets with accredited partners.
Julie Tran is Director of Advalurem Group, a private real estate investment firm that specializes in middle-market commercial real estate through joint venture structures; and expects to become the leading capital partner of this market segment. In this position she oversees all aspects of asset and portfolio management. With eleven years of real estate experience, Julie has managed over $4 billion of institutional real estate across various markets and property sectors.
Prior to joining Advalurem Group, Julie was a senior member of the management team at Candlebrook Properties, a multifamily operator based in NYC. There she oversaw a $700 million portfolio of multifamily investments throughout the northeast. Before Candlebrook, Julie served as Portfolio Manager at Madison International Realty, where she worked for many years with Advalurem Group founder, Gabriel Pozo. At Madison, Julie managed $2.5 billion of assets in several closed-ended fund vehicles. The funds comprised of office, multifamily, hotel, and retail investments located across the US and Europe. She began her career at Prudential Real Estate Investors. Julie holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics at the University of California, Berkeley and is an active member of Urban Land Institute and a board member of the New York Private Equity Network Women’s Committee.
