and the New York/New Jersey Minority Purchasing Council sponsored a conference on Certification and Procurement Opportunities for Minority/Women Business Enterprises. The conference was held at the corporate facilities of TIAA-CREF. A panel of representatives from the NY/NJ Minority Purchasing Council, Empire State Development Corporation, US Small Business Administration, Metropolitan Transportation Authority, NYC Department of Business Services and Port Authority of New York/New Jersey explained the benefits of getting certified as a minority/woman business owner and the various steps involved. In the second half of the conference, corporate procurement officials from Con Edison, Hertz Corporation, Macys East Inc, Merrill Lynch, NYC School Construction Authority and TIAA-CREF provided valuable information on the procurement process, including do's and dont's while trying to procure a corporate contract. This well-attended and popular conference served as a forum for attendees to meet and interact with representatives from certifying authorities, as well as corporate procurement officials.
