RCI Technologies Inc. is a premier IT consulting firm, specializing in providing highly tangible software solutions to commercial and public sector services nationwide. Established in 1983, the business employs 68 full time and 2 part time employees. Headquartered in Iselin, New Jersey, RCI has revenues of over $ 9 million.
After graduating from Baruch College, she started her career working for various financial brokerage firms. In 1983 she saw the need for IT placement and opened an IT consulting firm at home which was called Raj Consultants. She was motivated to start her own business because she wanted to raise a family and cut down on commuting to NYC. Moreover, running a business was natural for Anisa since she was born into an entrepreneurial family.
Today, Anisa manages the sales and marketing aspect of her company and her husband manages the operations and administration of the business. She has prepared her company well to take advantage of all opportunities by obtaining M/WBE certification from everyone - SBA, Port Authority of NY/NJ, NJ Transit, to name a few. RCI Technologies is the direct supplier to companies such as Lucent Technologies, IBM and many others. She methodically and successfully went after government business and now does business with the City of Philadelphia, NJ Transit, NYC Department of Transportation, GSA and more. She then concentrated on pharmaceuticals and landed contracts with Merck, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Johnson and Johnson, etc. RCI is expected to pass $10 million in revenues in 2008 and plans are underway to expand on a global basis.
As an Indian women, she states it is challenging doing business in the IT sector when the industry is typically dominated by men. Her advice to women entrepreneurs is "be persistent, have a vision and a strategy, and be focused".
Anisa is passionate about her work, and mentors other women-owned businesses. She serves on the Certifying Committee of the Women Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and on the Governing Board of WBENC; she is also a member of the Women Presidents Organization (WPO); Asian Women In Business (AWIB); New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners (NJAWBO); National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and is also the Trustee of the Public Edison Library. Her awards includes NJSBDC (New Jersey Small Business Development Centers) Success Award 2005, the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) Supplier of the Year Award 2007 and was featured in India in New York newspaper "Women on Top" and the Star -Ledger "The Business of New Jersey".
Anisa resides in Edison, New Jersey with her husband Raj, and children Samir, 22 and Nisha, 19.
