Founded in 1929, the Japanese American Citizens League is the nation's largest and oldest Asian American cilvil rights organization. The JACL is a membership driven organization with more than 24,000 members and over 113 chapters nationwide, with a mission to secure and uphold the civil and human rights of all people. Its mission also includes preserving the cultural heritage and values of Japanese Americans and promoting the development and understanding of all social and ethnic groups.
