The 2011 AWIB Annual Procurement Opportunities Conference
The 2011 AWIB Annual Procurement Opportunities Conference for Minority/Women-Owned Business Enterprises was held on Friday, July 15th at BNY Mellon from 8:30am to 3:00pm. There were informative workshops to help businesses grow, over 30 exhibitors were on hand, ready to meet with vendors and there were corporations that met one-on-one with pre-qualified minority and women-owned businesses. Participants met buyers from various corporations and government agencies to find out what opportunities were available and what steps they must take to be competitive. Attendees really took advantage of the multiple channels to meet the right people: extensive exhibition area, one-on-one corporate matchmaking sessions, B2B networking and industry expert led panel discussions.

Covered was how to land that coveted government contract. Representatives from New York City, the states of New York and New Jersey and various regional authorities and federal agencies were on hand.
Business owners who have been successful in obtaining government and corporate contracts shared their experiences and actions they took to win contracts.

Vendors for one-on-one appointments were selected based on their qualifications and if their products/services were requested by the corporate buyers.
