Minority/Women Business Certification: 
Grow Your Business    

 

New York, NY (March 16, 2009) - Asian Women In Business (AWIB) and the Office of Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will hold a workshop on Minority and Women Business Enterprise (M/WBE) Certification and Procurement Opportunities.

This workshop is specifically designed to assist women and minority business owners to obtain minority/women certification and gain greater access to contracting opportunities with government agencies. Attendees can find out how certification can be leveraged to grow their companies by expanding their marketing to include New York City agencies.

In addition, the second part of the workshop will teach business owners who are already certified how to compete successfully in procurement opportunities with New York. The other co-sponsors of this workshop are the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Downtown Brooklyn Partnership and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Asian Women In Business has been designated by the NYC Council and the NYC Department of Small Business Services as a partner in outreaching to Asian owned businesses to obtain certification and to gain access to City contracts. AWIB sponsors conferences, workshops and seminars on a variety of business topics and holds frequent networking activities to enable entrepreneurs to make important business contracts.
 



Asian Women In Business (www.awib.org) is the only nonprofit organization in the country with the primary mission of assisting Asian women entrepreneurs. Over the years, AWIB has expanded its mission to address issues affecting the business and professional development of Asian women.
