Do you have a business idea in mind but don't know where to begin? A business plan is an essential road map for business success, however, it can seem like a confusing and complicated task. Get the tools and skills you need by joining AWIB's "Writing a Business Plan" workshop! This session will be led by Alice Wang, co-founder of Spark Box Toys, a subscription e-commerce service that brings personalized educational toys to children. Alice also advises and works with startups in New York City and is currently launching her next consumer products company.

Legal Structures, Taxes and Record Keeping 
Starting Your Business 101 series

If you are thinking of starting a business but aren't sure how to navigate the dreaded tax laws and legal issues that come with owning a business, then this class is for you! This workshop will discuss company ownership structure and how entrepreneurs should weigh their legal and financial options to find the ones that best fit their particular situation. We will also cover the importance of keeping your finances in order, including a record system, bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, and other financial and tax issues.

The workshop speakers will be Samiya Mir, partner at Katona & Mir, a law firm specializing in employment and business law, and Chunyee Miot, a certified public accountant specializing in small businesses. Samiya and Chunyee are experts in their respective fields and will ensure attendees get first-hand information on the important aspects of starting and running a business.

AWIB and Tiffany & Co. are hosting Cocktails at Tiffany and Keys for a Cause.

Enjoy browsing Tiffany's beautiful jewelry and accessories during a private reception at Tiffany Wall Street and support Asian Women In Business by purchasing special 'keys' which may unlock a beautiful piece of Tiffany jewelry.  


This is a networking, shopping and fundraising event and attendees will be asked to purchase keys - 100% of the proceeds go to Asian Women In Business, a non profit organization under IRS Section 501(c)(3).

Our annual end-of-the-year holiday party will bring AWIB friends and supporters together for a delicious buffet dinner and open wine/beer bar. Along with the good food will be even greater company, which go perfectly well with holiday cheer - a great way to celebrate the end of 2014 and the beginning of a new year.

Lunar New Year Reception @ the Metropolitan Museum of Art

Only AWIB members and supporters will be invited to this exclusive annual celebration which includes a reception and private viewing of one of the new exhibits. Of course, we will have lions welcoming us and bringing us good fortune. Exact date will be provided soon but expect it to be during the last week of February (the 24th or 25th seems likely).
