AWIB New Jersey Summer Networking Reception
Join AWIB for a summer reception at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Visit NJPAC immediately prior to our event if you want to experience its renowned free summer concert series, Sounds of the City, in Theater Square. Then, join us inside and spend the rest of the evening networking as you savor a glass of wine, have a bite to eat and watch the sun set on an outdoor terrace overlooking Newark. What a perfect relaxing way to spend an evening. AWIB is building a chapter in New Jersey and if you support our efforts, please bring your colleagues and friends. The Changing Role of Asian Women In Hollywood From the very first moment Hollywood laid eyes on the beautiful Anna May Wong, American cinema has portrayed Asian women through a narrow lens influenced by western biases. Join Asian Women in Business for a short-film highlighting the battle Asian women face to preserve an individual and authentic voice in an entertainment industry bunkered down by cliches. The film will be followed by a panel discussion focused on debunking Asian women stereotypes and the success or failure of such efforts within the broader context of a national media and Hollywood. The Asian Women In Business Scholarship The AWIB scholarship encourages and promotes exceptional Asian female students who have demonstrated scholarship, leadership, community service and/or entrepreneurship. The AWIB scholarship Fund awards scholarships to students who have the attributes to be our next generation of leaders.
The deadline for completed applications is August 1, 2010.
Semifinalists will be notified in September 2010.
Winners will be notified in November 2010.
