2014 AWIB Annual Procurement Opportunities Conference
Asian Women in Business understands that for minority and women-owned businesses to grow, they need additional opportunities with Fortune 1000 companies and government agencies. AWIB facilitates procurement opportunities between minority and women-owned businesses and corporate and government buyers.
On an annual basis, AWIB sponsors a procurement opportunities conference which not only provides information on the processes but also matches pre-qualified minority and women-owned businesses with corporate buyers.
The 2014 Procurement Opportunities Conference fostered partnerships for minority and women-owned businesses. Now in its 11th year, the Procurement Conference has become the premier event for small businesses in the tri-state area. It is designed to help minority and women owned firms grow in an increasingly competitive business environment.
Small business owners met with over 40 government agencies and regional authorities at our extensive exhibition area as well as meet one-on-one with over 20 Fortune 1,000 companies during our corporate matchmaking sessions (for pre-qualified vendors). The conference also included industry expert-led panel discussions, which offered valuable insight into the procurement process. Those in attendance had a great opportunity to make the connections that could propel their businesses forward.
AWIB Small Business Members were eligible for an exhibition table to showcase their products and/or services. As an exhibitor, they were able to readily network with government and corporate buyers as well as the many small business owners in attendance. Registration was required to attend the conference and Pre-qualification Forms were fully completed for attendees to be considered for one-on-one appointments. MWBE certification was not required but recommended; registration and completion of the pre-qualification form was required to participate in the matchmaking session. Deadline to submit the pre-qualification form was May 23, 2014. These invaluable sessions were FREE to participate in. However, matches were made according to product/service requested by the corporations, and therefore not guaranteed. As always, AWIB members received special consideration.
We spent a lot of time arranging this conference. We would appreciate donations from both the non-members who attended our conference and those who would like to attend in the future to defray a small part of the costs and to allow us to continue this tradition of helping the small business community.
