This Women's Business Center was founded in October 1995. The Center has established programs and services to address the needs of start-ups as well as established and expanding businesses for socially and economically disadvantaged women. The program provides training and counseling to aid and encourage the growth and development of small businesses owned and controlled by women. Training and counseling is provided in the following areas: financial, marketing, management, business planning and government procurement.

WEED was founded in 1989. This project is a collaborative agreement between WEED, the Southeast Louisiana Black Chamber of Commerce and Xavier University's Department of Economic Development. They plan to assist women in the New Orleans area. Since their inception, WEED has helped over 200 women to become economically self-sufficient.
